  The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Vermont are often more forgiving than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The put-in is not too far from Bennington, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Ball Mountain Brook in Vermont is 3.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater.
    Whitewater paddling here in the Green Mountains is a great experience. There are some good hotels near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whether you're whitewater rafting
or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch is short so no need to bring snacks. The Metcalf Road to Jamaica State Park stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. The scenic beauty of Windham County and the playfulness of the  
water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle.

Briefly about the general area:
There is a great hiking trail near Ball Mountain Brook called the Railroad Bed Trail, and a good spot like Jamaica State Park is too great to leave out. Whohoo, so much entertaining stuff in one place! The Green Mountains is unbeatable! The Overlook Trail is a delightful hiking trail close to Ball Mountain Brook, and the great folks of Jamaica like to hang out nearby. A river like this is too good to miss. Going to Molly Stark State Park close to Ball Mountain Brook is a pleasant thing to do, and good skiing awaits you at Magic Mountain.
