CLASS II     7.5 miles
  The Whitesville to Perkinsville stretch of Black River in Vermont is 7.5 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Vermont and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Vermont tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers in this state are
    suitable for beginners. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but
if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The starting point is not too far from Lebanon, as you can see on the road map further down. The wild scenery of the Green Mountains is great. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back  
for more. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Whitesville to Perkinsville stretch is one of them.

Briefly about the general area:
Take a hike on the Slot Trail, and Wilgus State Park is a pleasant location to take a look at. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Green Mountains. At Black River you always meet someone from Perkinsville, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Hang Glider Trail. This river is so wonderful. Ascutney State Park is a lovely location any time of year, and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Ascutney.
