Vermont whitewater, Connecticut River

Windsor county, Sumner Falls section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

Just an FYI for you Kayak buffs this was an awesome trip but will require two vehicles one for the put in and one for the extraction starting in Hartland VT ending in Cornish NH.

Putin Location Coordinates: Latitude: 43. 56439 Longitude: -72. 38111 These coordinates are taken from a web site it is recommended you ask directions when you reach route 5 in Hartland VT

The take out is just North of the Cornish bridge unless you want
to travel three miles South to North Star Canoe and Kayak.

Some swift water lots of current to assist in this 10 to 12 mile trip all paddlers agree this was awesome. Says EARL Cook

If you're coming from Lebanon
it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The beautiful scenery of Windsor County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average,
so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. The campgrounds here at Connecticut River are pretty good. This stretch is very short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Whitewater paddling here in the Green Mountains is a great experience. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Sumner Falls section is one of them. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. There are many good hotels to choose from, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
