  This section of Green River in Windham / Franklin County is 6.8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Vermont and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section is
    long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out
with mother nature have people coming from far and near. The Green River to West Leyden stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Springfield, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The campgrounds here at Green River are pretty good. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Vermont are easier than the national norm, so don't forget  
that the rivers in this state are less demanding.

Briefly about the general area:
You simply must stop by Gallup Pinnacle while you're here at Green River; if you're here you can take a hike along the Sunset Trail. Here at Green River there are plenty of folks from Colrain, and if the weather is delightful, you can go for a hike along the Sunrise Trail. This river is a great place to visit. On a delightful day you can have a look at Horse Race in close proximity to Green River; a spree here wouldn’t be complete without a tour to close by Molly Stark State Park. You can never get enough of the delightful skiing at Living Memorial Park; don't leave without going to Fort Dummer State Park.
