  This stretch of Lamoille River - Wild Branch in Vermont is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. The scenic beauty of Orleans / Lamoille County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. The Green Mountains scenery is wonderful.
    Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Vermont tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so
don't forget that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Craftsbury to Wolcott stretch is one of them. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch is mid length, good for  
a one day paddling trip. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Barre, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page.

Briefly about the general area:
There are plenty of people from Wolcott here at Lamoille River - Wild Branch. New Discovery State Park is a great location to stretch your legs a bit; there's good hiking along the Bayley Hazen Military Road Trail. At this river you will never have a bad time. When you're here at Lamoille River - Wild Branch it's always fun to visit Elmore State Park. At Lamoille River - Wild Branch during the summertime months highs are in the 80's.
