If you're coming from Barre it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch is short so you'll have to walk back to the start over
and over. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Vermont is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The wonderful
Vermont scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Whitewater paddling here in the Green Mountains is a great experience. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near.
