Vermont whitewater, Moose River

Caledonia Essex county, Victory Bog to Passumpsic River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS I-IV     18 miles
The put-in is not too far from Berlin, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Vermont are often more forgiving than in other states, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The Victory Bog to Passumpsic River stretch of Moose River is 18 miles long and is a class I-IV section of whitewater according
to American Whitewater. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The scenic beauty of Vermont and the cool fresh water have people coming here. When you're paddling
down a Green Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors
will have you coming back for more. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.

Briefly about the general area:
Going for a hike along the South Shore Hiking Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. Don't leave Moose River without stopping by Brighton State Park; you can have a splendid hiking adventure along the Bear Den Trail. This river is so wonderful. If you're going to Moose River from East Burke, you won't be the only one, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Burke Mountain while you're here.
