CLASS IV-V     1 miles
  The wonderful Vermont scenery and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. This section of Wells River in Vermont is 1 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. This is an extremely short section so better bring some good walking shoes. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. For all you camping people there
    are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just
being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. If you're coming from Lebanon it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Vermont are often easier than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy.

the general area:
Near Wells River you find the Chippewa Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail. Going to Ricker Pond State Park in the neighborhood of Wells River is a great thing to do, and the Wrights Mountain Trail is a wonderful hiking trail close by. This is a really good river. There are plenty of folks from Wells River here at Wells River, and on a tremendous day it's a great idea to spend the day at Boulder Beach. For the period of the warm days of summer at Wells River highs are commonly in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows sink down to the 50's. All through the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 20's, and nighttime lows at Wells River all through the winter ordinarily descend into the 0's.
