  The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. The scenic beauty of Orange County and the water flowing gracefully down White River - First Branch are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great
    attractions for lots of people. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The starting point is not too far from Lebanon, as you can see on the road map further down. Since you're on this site you are probably
into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Chelsea Health Center to above Sawmill Dam section is just one of many. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. The beauty of the Green Mountains is a great plus for this river. This stretch of White River - First Branch in Orange County is  
6 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.

Briefly about the general area:
Skiing at Twin Farms is one of those things you just ought to do, and The Pinnacle is a perfect location to have a look at while in the area. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Green Mountains. While you're here at White River - First Branch you can take a hike along the Bear Hill Trail, and dropping by Allis State Park is a wonderful thing to do. This is a great river.
