There is not been a Grahamville school road for at least 40+ years. Your put in on the winhall river is On Kendall Farm Road. Says Marianne stone

The wonderful Vermont scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. The put-in location is a short drive from Bennington, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck,
    lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. The campgrounds
here at Winhall River are pretty good. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Vermont are easier than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget  
that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. The wild scenery of the Green Mountains is great. The Grahamville School Road to Winhall Campgrounds section of Winhall River in Vermont is 4.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III+ section.

Briefly about the general area:
Nearby French Hollow is a tremendous site to go if you're at Winhall River, and going for a hike on the Overlook Trail is always a great adventure. All the outdoors exciting things in the Green Mountains will keep you coming back again and again. There's a good forest right next door to Winhall River called Winhall Town Forest, and nearby you locate the Hamilton Falls Trail which is a pleasant hiking trail.
