There is no place to put in anymore at the park. The creek is also impassable due to sediment building up throuhout the creek until about a mile before Accotink lake. If there is a heavy rain, it would raise the water, but during normal conditions, you must carry a canoe or kayak. We didn't attempt the lover half past the dam at Accotink lake, but it also appeared to be impassable. Says     Darrell If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners. If you're coming from Washington-Arlington-Alexandria it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This section of Accotink Creek in Virginia is 13 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take   your time, so pack your camping stuff. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. The nature scenery of Virginia and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. No shortage of good hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The King Arthur Road to Telegraph Road stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system.
