The starting location is a short drive from Richmond, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This section of Appomattox River in Chesterfield/Dinwiddie County is 6.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other places. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but you'd better reserve in advance | |
