  The wonderful Virginia scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Buck Mountain Creek will make you feel great. The put-in is not too far from Charlottesville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There are a few other sections
    in this river system that can be paddled as well. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can
easily run it on an afternoon. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. The Route 610 to South Fork of Rivanna R stretch of Buck Mountain Creek in Virginia is 9 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The campgrounds here at Buck Mountain Creek are pretty good. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Virginia are easier than the national norm,  
so keep in mind that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere.

Briefly about the general area:
Don't leave Buck Mountain Creek without first going for a hike along the Patterson Ridge Trail. Here at Buck Mountain Creek you'll almost certainly meet some folks from Free Union, and you can go for a hike on the Twomile Ridge Trail. If you come to this river you will have a good time for sure. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Buck Mountain Creek, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are commonly in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Buck Mountain Creek.
