Virginia whitewater, Bullpasture River Highland Bath county, Route 250 to Route 678 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     10 miles   If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding. The wonderful Highland/Bath County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Bullpasture River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Whether     you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The starting point is not too far from Staunton-Waynesboro, as you can see on the road map further down. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. Briefly about the general area:   Take a hike on the Hupman Valley Trail, and while you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Mc Dowell. Hupman Valley is in close proximity to Bullpasture River and is a tremendous location, and hiking along the Jerkemtight Trail is great fun. This river is a wonderful place to visit. At Bullpasture River throughout the months of summer highs are in the 70's while nighttime lows are typically in the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are ordinarily in the 30's while Bullpasture River nighttime low temperatures during the winter are in the 10's. Bullpasture River gets lots of water.
