If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Virginia you might find the rivers here     a bit more manageable, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere. The Goshen to Maury River stretch of Calfpasture River in Virginia is 4 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. The starting point is not too far from Staunton-Waynesboro, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. A bit of exercise   and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: Good hiking is available along the Missing Link Trail, and Chambers Hollow is another great location to pop by close by. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Calfpasture River; Old Bridge Trail is a perfect local trail. You're sure to bump into some fine folks from Goshen here.
