  The natural beauty of Virginia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Roanoke, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if
    you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There's camping available near Dunlap Creek. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking
around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. Briefly about the general area:
If you wish for a little side spree, try Sweet Springs Valley, and don't leave without stopping by Moncove Lake State Park. People from Paint Bank love to come to Dunlap Creek, and a trip to Beaverdam Falls will fill your soul with great feelings. At this river you will never have a bad time. The Cove Trail offers hiking at its best, and Greenbrier State Forest is worth stopping at. There's tremendous hiking along the Brushy Mountain Trail. Through the long summer days at Dunlap Creek highs are ordinarily in the 80's.
