The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. This section of Four Mile Run in Virginia is 4.5 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Virginia     and the water flowing gracefully down Four Mile Run make the trip here worthwhile. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. Lodging is available near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The Ohio Street to Arlington Ridge Road stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Briefly about the   general area: On a good day at Four Mile Run you can take a hike along the Upland Trail, and Mason Neck State Park is a great place to take a look at on a wonderful day. If you're looking for a beach close to Four Mile Run, we recommend Bathing Beach, and you'll meet a lot of people from Arlington here. This is a really good river. Going to George Washington's Grist Mill Historic State Park next to Four Mile Run is a good thing to do, and if the weather is perfect, you can go for a hike along the Woods Trail. If you haven’t been to Glen Echo Park, you must schedule some time for it while you're here.
