This stretch of Happy Creek in Virginia is 4.3 miles long and is a class III+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so keep in mind that rivers in this state are not as hard as elsewhere.     The wonderful Virginia scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is wonderful. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad   you came. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. Briefly about the general area: Don't leave Happy Creek without first going for a hike along the Dickey Hill Trail. Happy Creek is not far at all from Front Royal, and Shenandoah River Andy Guest State Park is a nice spot to stretch your legs a bit. This is such a fun river. Good hiking is available along the Bluff Trail; some great nature is available in Harmony Hollow Orchard. Happy Creek is a good spot of typical rainfall.
