The scenic beauty of Rockbridge County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. No shortage of good hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. This section is very short     so better bring some good walking shoes. The Eastfields to Walker's Creek section of Hay's Creek is 1.25 miles long and is a class II-III(V+) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so keep in mind that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great experience. There are some good sections   to paddle in this river system, the Eastfields to Walker's Creek section is one of them. Briefly about the general area: Hay's Creek is right by the Cashaw Creek Trail; a wonderful site close by is Reservoir Hollow. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing things in the Blue Ridge Mountains. If you're going to Hay's Creek from Buena Vista, you won't be the only one, and don't leave Hay's Creek without first checking out Little Pinnacle. This is a great river. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Rocky Row Trail. At Hay's Creek all through the days of summer highs are in the 80's while nighttime lows are commonly in the 60's.
