Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Virginia are easier than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The put-in location is a short drive from Staunton-Waynesboro, please print out a copy of the road map     further down the page so you won’t get lost. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Irish Creek Mission to South River section is one of them. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The nature scenery of Virginia and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. You can pitch a tent or   park your RV at a nearby campground. There are nice comfortable hotels here, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: A great site to pop by right next door to Irish Creek is Big Dark Hollow, and if the weather is splendid, you can go for a hike along the Tolley Gap Trail. And that's not everything there is to do here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Here at Irish Creek there are plenty of people from Vesuvius, and the Jump Rock Trail is a wonderful hiking trail close by. This is such a great river. The annual rainfall here at Irish Creek is about average.
