The starting location is a short drive from Blacksburg-Christiansburg-Radford, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll

No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Ridge Mountains  
is a great experience. The beautiful scenery of Virginia and the water flowing gracefully down Little Reed Island Creek will make you feel great. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too.

Briefly about the general area:
You'll meet a lot of people from Barren Springs here, and the Fire Trail is a glorious hiking trail nearby. Whohoo, so much fun stuff in one place! The Blue Ridge Mountains is so good! Alum Hollow is a great spot to look at, and a journey to Claytor Lake State Park when you're here is never a bad idea.
