If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Virginia you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the     river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: Claytor Lake State Park is both perfect and charming, and it's next to Little   Walker Creek, and Little Walker Creek is not far at all from Staffordsville. The Standing Branch Horse Trail offers hiking at its best, and there's wonderful hiking along the Ripple Trail. This is such a wonderful river. Little Walker Creek gets a typical amount of rainfall. The wettest month of the year is regularly July, that's the one that rains the most while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Throughout the summer months here at Little Walker Creek, high temperatures typically reach the 80's, and the nighttime is fairly cooler of course, regularly in the 50's.
