  The natural beauty of Virginia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. This stretch of Lynch River is 6.5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. There aren’t any
    hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are
sure to keep you coming back for more. The Shady Grove to North Fork of Rivanna River section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. The campgrounds here at Lynch River are pretty good. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. The starting location is a short drive from Charlottesville, as you can see on the  
road map further down.

Briefly about the general area:
Take a hike on the Hensley Hollow Trail; since you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Dyke. Lynch River is right by the Saddleback Mountain Trail. During the summertime at Lynch River highs are typically in the 80's, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 40's, and overnight lows during the wintertime for Lynch River tend to be in the 20's. Lynch River gets a normal amount of yearly rain. August is the wettest month with most rain, and January on the other hand is the driest.
