Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Highway 130 to James River section of Pedlar River is 3 miles long and is a class I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Lynchburg, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions   for lots of people. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Briefly about the general area: The Piney Ridge Trail offers hiking at its best; if you're stopping by from Coleman Falls, you won't be the only one. There's delightful hiking along the Cashaw Creek Trail. At Pedlar River through the warm months highs are in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. Highs all through the wintertime are frequently in the 40's; night lows at Pedlar River throughout the wintertime typically descend into the 20's.
