The starting location is a short drive from Winchester, as you can see on the road map further down. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so go ahead     and pack your camping stuff. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too.
