The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. If you're coming from Roanoke it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. This river system     has a few good paddling sections and the County line to Recreation Area section is one of them. The County line to Recreation Area section of Roaring Run in Botetourt County is 1.2 miles long and has been rated as a class V+ section by American Whitewater. The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge   Mountains is great. There's camping available near Roaring Run. This is an extremely short section so no need to bring snacks. Briefly about the general area: You can never get enough of the splendid skiing at The Homestead, and stopping by Douthat State Park is a nice thing to do. Man, is there lots of entertaining stuff to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Going for a hike along the Stony Run Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area. A spree to Jefferson National Forest when you're here at Roaring Run is never a bad idea, and there are plenty of people from Low Moor here at Roaring Run.
