The starting location is a reasonable drive from Bristol, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Virginia tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so don't forget that rivers in this state are not     as hard as elsewhere. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is wonderful. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. The scenic beauty of Virginia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.   This section is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Briefly about the general area: Here at Russell Fork there are plenty of folks from Breaks, and you certainly should take a look at Breaks Interstate Park. if you're here. So much cool stuff to do here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains, too glorious to be true. The Breaks is an out of the ordinary thing to spot while you're here at Russell Fork, and Skegg Hole is not far at all. This river is a wonderful place to visit.
