The Route 50 to Route 7 section of Shenandoah River in Clarke County is 14 miles long and has been rated as a class I(II) section by American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance     you're all set. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Route 50 to Route 7 stretch is just one of many. The nature scenery of Clarke County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. When you're paddling down a Blue Ridge Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. A good workout   and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Virginia you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike along the Belle Meade Linden Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. Sky Meadows State Park is a charming location any time of year, and there are plenty of folks from Paris here at Shenandoah River. This is such a fun river.
