Virginia whitewater, Stock Creek Scott county, Natural Tunnel State Park section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-III     1.8 miles   The Natural Tunnel State Park section of Stock Creek is 1.8 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The starting point is not too far from Kingsport-Bristol, as you can see on the road map further down. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors     have people coming from far and near. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The scenic beauty of Virginia and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. This stretch is short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Briefly about   the general area: Ford Valley is a great place to stop by right next door to Stock Creek; a great place like Natural Tunnel State Park is too good to leave out. During your trip to Stock Creek you'll meet some folks from Duffield for sure. Stock Creek gets a lot of water. The month with most of the rain is May, and the driest month of the year is October. High temperatures at Stock Creek through the summertime are in the 80's. Through the moonlight hours it's generally in the 60's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 40's; night lows in the 20's for Stock Creek.
