  This stretch of Tennessee Laurel Creek in Virginia is 2.5 miles long and is a class III+(IV) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Johnson County and the water flowing gracefully down Tennessee Laurel Creek beats anything. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are
    less demanding. This is a somewhat short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. And of course,
there are campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you're coming from Boone it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page.

Near Tennessee Laurel Creek you come across Negro Grave Hollow which is a good location to stop by. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Maple Spring Fire Trail.
