  The Upper Gorge section of Tumbling Creek in Virginia is 5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. The beautiful scenery of Virginia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Virginia is often
    easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. There's camping available near Tumbling Creek. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality
time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The starting point is not too far from Bristol, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of  
good rivers.

Briefly about the general area:
Tumbling Creek is a place with many visitors from Rosedale, and on a splendid day you can take a hike along the Blue Grass Trail. Twin Hollow is a delightful location to check out close by. Summertime highs at Tumbling Creek regularly tend to be in the 80's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 60's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 40's; after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Tumbling Creek dip into the 20's. All the water falling down from the sky makes Tumbling Creek a wet spot.
