Might have difficulty getting to marked put in point. take out point is just before bridge on river right. cars will have to go across bridge and pull off just around sharp right corner. Old rock bridge piling could be climbed (50 ft +/-) with proper protection (most likely top roped). Says Mike T. The nature scenery of Virginia and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle.     If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. There are   so many sections to paddle in this river system, the US 29 to Route 654 section is just one of many. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: There are plenty of folks from Arrington here at Tye River, and hey, Gotta ski right? Wintergreen is a wonderful location to do that. High temperatures at Tye River during the warm months are in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 60's.
