Washington whitewater, Baker Creek

Mason County county, Old Bridge to Middle Satsop section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS III-IV     1.5 miles
If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The Old Bridge to Middle Satsop section of Baker Creek is 1.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. The nature scenery of Mason County County and the water flowing gracefully down Baker Creek make the trip
here worthwhile. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Old Bridge to Middle Satsop section is one of them. If you're coming from Shelton it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you
can see on the road map further down. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. Whitewater paddling here in the Olympic Mountains is a great experience. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This is a somewhat short section so you'd
better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
