CLASS II     2.7 miles
  This section of Baker River in Washington is 2.7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington are harder than the national norm, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The North Cascades National Park to Baker Lake section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. This stretch is short so no need
    to bring snacks. The put-in location is a short drive from Mount Vernon-Anacortes, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The wonderful Washington scenery and the cool fresh water will make you
feel great. The beautiful Northern Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll  
find lots of paddling places. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.

Briefly about the general area:
The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Mt.Baker. A trip to Rockport State Park invigorates the spirit. Baker River gets a good deal of water. The month with most of the rain is November, and July is when it's the driest. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Baker River. For the period of the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 50's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Baker River.
