  The Tunnel Creek to Rainbow Campground stretch of Big Quilcene River in Washington is 2 miles long and it is classified as a class V+ section by American Whitewater. The starting location is a short drive from Bremerton-Silverdale, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very
    popular destination. There's camping available near Big Quilcene River. The scenic beauty of Washington and the water flowing gracefully down Big Quilcene River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The average Washington
whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Tunnel Creek to Rainbow Campground section is one of them. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. This is a pretty short section so  
better bring some good walking shoes. The river winds through the Olympic Mountains and you get great scenery. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more.

Briefly about the general area:
During your trip to Big Quilcene River you'll meet some folks from Brinnon for sure. On a great day at Big Quilcene River you can take a hike along the Deadfall Trail, and Scenic Beach is a beautiful beach to pop by. This river is so wonderful. If the weather is delightful here at Big Quilcene River, you can go for a hike along the Mount Jupiter Trail, and a day at gorgeous Maple Beach in the vicinity of Big Quilcene River is a nice thing to do.
