Washington whitewater, Box Canyon Creek

Kittitas county, to Kachess Reservoir section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS III-IV+(V)     2 miles
Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The to Kachess Reservoir section of Box Canyon Creek in Washington is 2 miles long and is a class III-IV+(V) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Kittitas County and the water flowing gracefully down Box
Canyon Creek have people coming here. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river
system, there are a few others too. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is a bit of a short stretch so no need to bring snacks. The put-in is not too far from Ellensburg, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The beautiful Northern Cascade Range scenery is an
added bonus. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good spots for that around here. The campgrounds here at Box Canyon Creek are pretty good.

Briefly about the general area:
Lake Easton State Park is a splendid place to visit on a delightful day; hiking is a popular thing to do around Box Canyon Creek; Cooper Pass Trail is a pleasant local trail. That right there is plenty of fun things already but it goes on, the Northern Cascade Range has it all. The skiing at Summit at Snoqualmie is delightful; the Kachess Ridge Trail offers hiking at its best.
