CLASS IV-V+     4.5 miles
  The starting point is not too far from Mount Vernon-Anacortes, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch of Canyon Creek - North Fork Nooksack in Whatcom County is 4.5 miles long and is a class IV-V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Washington and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Since you're on
    this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night,
but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Canyon Creek Bridge to Glacier  
SpringSouth section is one of them. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Cascade Range is a great experience. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.
