Can you do a little gold panning along the Carbon river on rest stops from rafting? Says Jimmy

The natural beauty of Pierce County and the water flowing gracefully down Carbon River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This section of Carbon River in Pierce County is 9 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river
for a while will have you coming back for more. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The 177th St. East to Puyallup
River section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The starting location is a short drive from Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue, as you can see on the road map further down. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Washington you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging,
so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.

Briefly about the general area:
The nice people of Orting like to hang out close by, and a trip here wouldn’t be complete without a visit to nearby Flaming Geyser State Park. An average amount of rainfall falls at Carbon River. Most of the rain falls all through November while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Through the summertime months here at Carbon River, high temperatures usually get into the 70's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's.
