Washington whitewater, Cispus River

Lewis county, Road 28 Bridge to Scanewa Reservoir section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS III     20.2 miles
This section of Cispus River is 20.2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III section. The beautiful scenery of Washington and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Road 28 Bridge to Scanewa Reservoir section is one of many
paddling sections in this river system. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Cascade Range is a great experience. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. You can enjoy this section more if you take your
time, so why not pack your camp stove too. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. If you're coming from Hood River it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The average Washington whitewater rafting or
kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable.

Briefly about the general area:
Going for a hike on the Purcell Mountain Trail is always a delightful adventure, and if you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Randle. You'll beyond doubt wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool things in the Northern Cascade Range. Mount Rainier National Park is a fine site near Cispus River, and you can go for a hike on the Bean Creek Trail. This river is so wonderful.
