The Scatter Creek to Salmon La Sac Creek stretch of Cle Elum River in Kittitas County is 8.5 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The nature scenery of Washington and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The beauty of the Northern Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. The campgrounds   here at Cle Elum River are pretty good. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Scatter Creek to Salmon La Sac Creek section is just one of them. Briefly about the general area: Places like Lake Easton State Park are great to go to; the Davis Peak Lookout Trail offers hiking at its best. If you adore the outdoors you'll adore it here in the Northern Cascade Range. Iron Horse State Park is a good place to stretch your legs a bit.
