CLASS III-IV 9.5 miles
|
| |
This stretch of Clearwater River is 9.5 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. If you're coming from Port Angeles it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful Washington scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors |
are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip.
| If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Washington you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find | |
|
a large number of good spots. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Whitewater paddling here in the Olympic Mountains is a great experience.
Briefly about the general area: If
the weather is glorious here at Clearwater River, you can go for a hike along the Bogachiel-Hoh Trail, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Bogachiel Trail. So many exciting things to do in the Olympic Mountains,
not sufficient time. All the water falling down from the sky makes Clearwater River a wet spot. The month of December is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest month is August.
