Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The Clearwater Campground to 144 Gross Bridge section of Clearwater River in Washington is 10.5 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you |
don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The beautiful scenery of Washington and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. This is not the only paddling
| stretch in this river system, there are others too. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good spots for that around here. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Port Angeles, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. A bit of exercise and spending some | |
|
quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. When you're paddling down a Olympic Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way
too.
Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike on the Pass Trail is always a pleasant adventure, and a short trip to Crooks Rapids is always worthwhile. There's no way somebody can get bored here in the
Olympic Mountains. There is a nice hiking trail right next door to Clearwater River called the Bogachiel-Hoh Trail. Clearwater River sees pretty high levels of rainfall.
