The 144 Gross Bridge to Queets River section of Clearwater River in Jefferson County is 11.5 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This river system
    is full of great paddling stretches, the 144 Gross Bridge to Queets River stretch is just one of them. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. The scenic beauty of
Washington and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. The beautiful Olympic Mountains scenery is an added bonus. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Parson Rapids is an inspiring place to stop by while you're here, and a spree to Ruby Beach is always a delightful idea. Yep, outdoors entertaining things truly is bountiful here in the Olympic Mountains. Don't leave Clearwater River without first paying a visit to Barker Rapids. Clearwater River is a wet site that gets lots of rainfall. Through December this area sees the most rain; August meanwhile is the driest month.
