The put-in is not too far from Shelton, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nature scenery of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or     kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch of Dosewallips River is 6.5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Six Mile Bridge to Dosewallips State Park section is just one of many. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.   The beautiful Olympic Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Briefly about the general area: Don't leave Dosewallips River without first going for a hike along the Deadfall Trail. Pleasant Harbor State Park is a wonderful location to check out on a pretty day, and you'll meet a lot of people from Brinnon here. This river is always fun. Go for a hike on the Mount Jupiter Trail, and you without doubt have to stop by Dosewallips State Park while you're here. Scenic Beach is a beach near Dosewallips River that you can go to, and if you're looking for a beach close by we recommend Maple Beach.
