The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The Grand Canyon     stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Grand Canyon stretch of Elwha River is 8.5 miles long and it is classified as a class V section by American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Washington and the water flowing gracefully down Elwha River will make you feel great. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. A good workout and spending some quality time in   nature are great attractions for lots of people. When you're paddling down a Olympic Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Briefly about the general area: While you're here at Elwha River you will meet lots of people from close by Port Angeles. Going for a hike on the Long Ridge Trail is always a good adventure. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Hurricane Ridge Ski Lodge. There is a wonderful hiking trail in the neighborhood of Elwha River called the Lillian River Trail. Don't miss out on a tour to Olympic National Park while you're here at Elwha River; you could always explore Grand Canyon.
