This stretch of Elwha River in Clallam County is 4.9 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came.
| The wild scenery of the Olympic Mountains is great. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Briefly about the general area: Not far from Elwha River you stumble on Angeles Point; a spree to Olympic National Park is worthwhile.
You'll in fact wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool things in the Olympic Mountains. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Hurricane Ridge Ski Lodge. There are plenty of folks from
Port Angeles here at Elwha River, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Elwha River; Little River Trail is a good local trail. There's magnificent hiking along the Hurricane Hill Trail.
