  The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The natural beauty of Washington and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The starting point is not too far from Ellensburg, as you can see on the road map further down. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you
    glad you came. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general
area you'll find lots of paddling spots. The FR 68 Bridge to Highway 2 bridge stretch of Foss River in King County is 4.9 miles long and has been rated as a class IV+ section by American Whitewater. There's camping available near Foss River. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. The wild scenery of the Northern Cascade Range is great. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the FR 68 Bridge  
to Highway 2 bridge section is one of them.

Briefly about the general area:
Good hiking is available along the Escondido Trail, and the snow is fine at Stevens Pass. If you want a fine time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Northern Cascade Range. Go for a hike on the Middle Fork Trail; this is a popular spot for folks from Skykomish. The surroundings of this river have so much to offer. Summertime highs at Foss River commonly tend to be in the 70's; the night is a tad chillier of course, mostly in the 50's. During the wintertime highs are commonly in the 40's; overnight lows at Foss River through the wintertime generally plunge into the 30's.
