Don't bother wasting your time. Says Rod Joslen This stretch of Goble Creek in Cowlitz County is 2.4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III section of whitewater. The nature scenery of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. Some people prefer whitewater     rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Washington you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Longview-Kelso, as you can see on the road map further down. You might have to settle for   a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: Hit the beach if you want, Cottonwood Beach is practically right here. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Goble Creek; Georges Peak Trail is a magnificent local trail. On a glorious day it's a magnificent idea to spend the day at Goble Beach, and lots of people from Longview-Kelso come here.
