Washington whitewater, Green River

King county, Green River Gorge section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS III-IV     5 miles
If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The wonderful King County scenery and the cool fresh water have people coming here. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This stretch has has enough
mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Green River Gorge section is just one of many. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but if you don’t have reservations
you might end up sleeping in your car. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. The Green River Gorge stretch of Green River in King County is 5 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this
general area you'll find lots of paddling places. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too.

Briefly about the general area:
Nolte State Park is a tremendous spot to stop at; if you're visiting from Black Diamond, you won't be the only one. Just can't get enough of the Northern Cascade Range. Go for a hike on the Clearwater Trail; if you're looking for a beach nearby we recommend Alexander Beach. Coming to this river is always a good idea. Flaming Geyser State Park is a great location; there are great places to discover along the Summit Lake Trail.
