The starting location is a short drive from Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The nature scenery of Pierce/King County and the water flowing gracefully down Greenwater River beats anything. This stretch of Greenwater River in Pierce/King County is 7.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II(IV) section of whitewater. For all you camping people there are campgrounds |
nearby. The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving.
| This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. The beauty of the Northern Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. |
an area with plenty of spots for that. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too.
Briefly about the general area: There's splendid hiking along the Divide Trail, and a journey
here wouldn’t be complete without a visit to nearby Federation Forest State Park. And if that's not enough there's a lot more exciting things to do in the Northern Cascade Range. The Lester Trail offers hiking at its best;
Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest is worth stopping at. If you come to this river you will have a good time for sure. A day on the slopes of Crystal Mountain is just what you need.
